Question: Why do racial comments have a bigger effect on my self-esteem than it does w others?
I'm muslim. And I noticed belittling comments have an an effect on my confidence, and I'm often not as open about my religion as I want to be in fear that some may ridicule me. Why did these comments affect me, yet it had no effect on other people??

Answer:
If someone makes fun of you for your religion they are just low individual who point fingers but once their judged they dont like it.forget them their not worth your time
Because you make the choice to, why you make that particular choice only you can say for sure; it could be pride, shame, low self-esteem, or other things ... you give the words others speak the power that they have over you.
It can be 2 reasons.
1. You're very aware of where that ignorance can lead, and you get frustrated that someone is putting that 'risk' in your life.
2. You take it personally, see it as a value-judgment on yourself, and you feel the need to 'fight' it, to prove them wrong, and when you don't, you feel like you let yourself down.
The problem is of course, most ignorant people, will see Muslims, as violent, so 'fighting' ignorance isn't gonna work.
That's why in both cases it's best to rise above it, simply say something like 'that's just wrong', then walk away(remove yourself from the situation).
You'll have spoken up for what's right, and you will have done so peacefully, doing the right thing 100%.
A muslim is brave,fearless.
Our pious predecessors have suffered worst kind of atrocities possible yet they never bowed down or stopped preaching islam.
dude im muslim and i dont even feel anything when ppl dis my religion. i use to but now i know its just becuz some ppl are ignorant. and to be honest almost every country, race, religion, etc has been discriminated such as blacks, indians, germans, muslims, russians, chinese, mexicans, etc. Its not only muslims who recieve racist comments. Though it is prolly the religion that recieves the most, thats just something we r gonna have to live through will.
