Question: What's your opinion on abortion? Do you agree with this, or disagree?

*EDITED - my question was do you agree with this, if not, what is your opinion?

I know no one here seems to like this subject, but I felt after reading a ton of abortion questions in the pregnancy section, that I wanted to make a point. A lot of women on here judge way too harshly in my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't think it's right for any of us to judge another women when we don't know her situation. Most women do not enjoy going through an abortion, and are intensely upset about it, yet a lot of women on here harass them and say horrible, threatening, ****** up things to them, when all they're doing is asking a question. Instead of answering, a lot of the women here just bash and flip out.

Another thing the women on here do is go on and on about God giving you that gift of a baby, and God this, that and the other. But not everyone believes in God, and I don't think God has anything to do with a man and women getting pregnant. It's nature and science. God doesn't make everyone pregnant, if there even is a God. Why would he, knowing so many of them would just abort? Why would he make abortion a reality? So bringing religion into the whole pregnancy/abortion topic is kind of null and void, since everyone has different beliefs. And to the so called Christians who say vicious, nasty things to the women who have had abortions, if you were so Godly, you wouldn't judge, isn't there something in the bible that says "Judge not lest you be judged"? And realistically, if every embryo/fetus ever aborted were to have been born instead, the world would be so over populated to the point that I don't think any of us can even comprehend. Why do you think China has that one child per couple law? And I think Social Services would be maxed out because of all the women who were in bad situation with kids who needed state assistance, so think about how many women with babies would be homeless, hungry, or worse? I really don't understand humans sometimes.

I'm pro choice because I believe it is the woman's choice. If we were to make it so abortion were illegal, we would essentially be taking away a woman's right over her body, and that's messed up. An embryo of 12 weeks or less is not a full grown baby. It does not think, it is not aware. It may have a heartbeat, but that is life and reality. An embryo or even fetus's life does not hold precedence over a woman's life or choice. I do NOT, however, agree with abortion past 12 weeks. I think that is sick. But there's also a huge difference between a women having a simple procedure under 12 weeks, and a DR literally killing a baby past 24 weeks, when it could survive outside of the womb. There's a lot of black and white involving abortion. If a women has an abortion under 6 weeks (4 actual weeks pregnant), the zygote does not even have a heartbeat yet. So how can you call that murder? And a lot of women have abortions shortly before then or right at that point. So at that point, it really is just a group of cells, a microscopic alien looking shape, with no heartbeat. And even past that, up until 8 weeks, an embryo cannot feel pain, that begins in the eighth week, so an abortion performed at 8 weeks and under is not actually causing the embryo pain (and all of this has been medically and scientifically proven). Only past the eighth week does it start to feel pain.

Another thing. Until 12 weeks, it is not medically considered a baby. It is first considered a blastocyst, then a zygote, then an embryo, and once 12 weeks hits, a fetus. But in those first 12 weeks, it really isn't a baby. It's the beginning of a baby. There's no way that it could survive outside of the woman's body at that point, or for even several month after, so it is not murder. It is not the same thing as killing a week old or 1 year old baby. Not even close, so arguing that point is just pointless. Hell, people have shot or attempted to murder pregnant women before, and they have lost their baby in the process, but in most states, unless the women is a certain number of farther months along, the person will not even get in trouble for the death of the fetus.

I understand why women choose abortion. I think a lot of situations warrant a women to have that choice. I don't think it should be used as birth control, and I don't think it should be legal in the 2nd and 3rd trimester, but I think some women really can't handle it. Some women use birth control very strictly, some women are raped, some women have underlying severe health problems, sometimes something is wrong with the pregnancy or embryo, and in that situation, a woman shouldn't HAVE to carry a pregnancy for 9 months, go through all of that, labor, EVERYTHING, just to have to raise a child or just to put the child up for adoption. Some women can't handle that. It's hard, and a lot harder than some of you realize. Until we have walked a mile in someone elses shoes, I don't think any of us have the right to judge.

Answer:

If you feel that is not wrongterminatingg a pregnancy ask to see the whole procedure and what ever is left of the baby. Look at the baby and say: I just aborted you because your not welcome to this ugly world. I am a woman and have the right to take your life. I have free will.

God makes everyone for a reason, and every baby is meant to have a life outside of the mothers womb, whether they do or do not have a heartbeat. I do not support abortion at all, yet I am not one to judge, I just state my opinion. I admit, if a woman was thinking about abortion, I would try to

Right on!

You have to understand that these people who make rude comments to women considering abortion come up very short on understanding the issues involved and knowing any real facts behind pregnancy development and abortion. It's interesting that many of them have children, yet still seem to think a 6 week embryo is a full-grown baby with thoughts and feelings. Did they not have ultrasounds until the last trimester?

My opinion on abortion is that I am glad it is available to women so they can prevent unwanted pregnancies from becoming unwanted children who face lives of neglect and abuse. I see abortion for what it is and don't get caught up in the pro-life propaganda.

talk her out of it... yet if she didn't, I would not harm her, or threaten her. I would be against her decision, but it wouldn't lower my opinion of her. That is my opinion on said subject.

Pro-life.
I do not disagree fully with your opinion, but I do have to say one thing. What if the baby inside you was made or created for a reason? What if he/she was made to be a wonderful human being, maybe even create the cure for cancer, or something greater. You will never know.

hey it is the choice of humanity to do what u got to do to survive. the thing about judgement is the people judgeing are wearing the shoes of the jugded so there answer is u must ask ur self and be comfortable with it .

I disaggery.

do i have to read all of this,,,please advise...

Yes, I do agree with what you've written. But there is also another issue. One of class position. As we know from history, abortion will always exist regardless of its legality. Outlawing abortion only forces the young female members of the underclass back into the highly-dangerous, ally-way abortions of history. On the other hand, the wealthy-elite will always have quality abortion service available. Therefore, the wealthy-elite (right-wing) can safely promote the anti-abortion agenda in an effort to divide the underclass (left-wing) and create a constituency.

i think i should absolutely be able to get an abortion if i see fit.
no one should be able to tell me what i can do with my body.
or any other woman for that matter.
i definately dont think abortion should be used as a safety net like: "oh if i get pregnant ill just get an abortion." but hey, if a woman chooses to do that, then she should be able to.
no question.

I'm pro-choice. It's not a simple black and white issue. we are a world of different beliefs and different cultures. In many traditional cultures, women have used roots to induce abortion to prevent future pregnancies. This is not a new topic.
I think the choice should be left up to the woman and/or the couple involved in the situation. My (now ex-husband) husband paid for me to have an abortion. He did not want any more children. It was a very painful experience, but what could I do? He drove me to the clinic and dropped me off. When I went inside, I saw couples, and I also saw children who were pregnant. Everyone has their reasons, I can't judge.
In my situation, it was the best thing to do. He did not want any involvement in taking care of the child if I had carried it to term. Nor did he want to pay for other birth control options to prevent pregnancy in our marraige. I had no say because I was the housewife, I had no rights over my body as the wife.
To cut a long story short, I ended that marraige. Now, I'm able to work and take care of myself, and my two other children. A third child would have been too much stress, because he would not have been there to help out. As a single mother, I manage everything by myself.

If a woman decides, it should be done in the first 8 weeks. Then, you only have to take the medication. Within a matter of hours, your body will flush out your uterus. It's like a heavy period. That's it.

that is way too long to read but i am against abortion. Even if it is just the beginning of the pregnancy theres a reason why it is there, and it already has a soul and a heartbeat why destroy it? If you dont want to have a baby then dont have sex or use a condom or get on birthcontrol. Its not the babys fault your a slut

Agree. A fetus is not baby. A fetus is not a human being. A fetus is nothing more than a mass of goo the size of a quarter that can't live outside a woman's body. And the mother should have full, unconditional control over what happens to it.

Wow! You obviously put a lot of thought into this issue. Normally I don't read anything longer than 2 paragraphs but I actually read all of yours. This is a topic that you can relate to seeing as how you are currently 17 weeks pregnant. You are very brave to tackle the topic of abortion, especially since this is such a controversial issue. You make some valid points. I can truly appreciate your argument seeing as how I've just taken a philosophy class and half the work was creating and developing arguments. If this was a topic, you would've gotten an A.
