Question: What is that stringy stuff in a banana?

You know those little strings in between the banana and the peel? What are they and what function do they serve?

Relation Questions:

Answer:

Oh and on a sidenote, I have a tube of banana DNA..... o___O

They are the Xylem and Phloem - for water and minerals- a bit like blood vessels in humans - they supply the nutrients that allow the fruit to grow.

They don't serve as anythings and are often called threads or strings.

OMG I hate those things! xD
