Question: What are some good foods for a ferret?
I want to try new things that I can make at home. I recently made a dish with just the yolk of an egg with kibble and ferret tone. They only ate it for like 3 minutes then stopped. Ive never tried raw meat yet but I want to. I always have chicken in my house. Thing is my ferrets have never had raw meat before. They eat Zupreem ferret food. Please give me simple and easy stuff !(:

"Totally Ferret" is a brand of ferret food/pellets. It is the BEST food for ferrets. I promise you will like it. It's really the best!

That's good you have started to introduce soupies. It will make introducing raw foods a bit easier.
Raw meat and bones IS the best diet for ferrets as this is all their digestive system has evolved to handle. They CANNOT digest fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, milk products, and sugars.
It is safe when prepared correctly.
If you are looking to switch completely to raw, I suggest you check out the Holistic Ferret Forum for tips. Feeding complete raw requires a balance between muscle meat, bones, and organs. They even have a mentor program to help you out.
If you just want to supplement raw, remember that raw meat has a faster digestive time than kibble so you'll want to withold kibble for about an hour before giving raw. You can do just what you are doing now: make a soup with raw eggs, raw chicken, or raw turkey. Run it through a blender until it's a fine consistency. You can add kibble so it taste familiar to them and then slowly remove it until they are eating completely raw soups. Once they are eating pureed raw meats, you can start making it chunkier and adding things likes hearts, livers, and bones.
Alternatively, you can buy commercial raw foods. Stella and Chewys has a freeze dried variety and Natures Variety sells frozen raw medallions.
If you stick with kibble, it's a really good idea to mix at least 2 brands. That way if it's out of stock, changes the formula, or has a recall, there is another food that your ferrets will eat.
AVOID meat. Raw or otherwise. Feeding a ferret meat will make them more likely to bite. I find that high quality cat food is a good base diet. Ferrets like fruit. Mine are fond of bananas.
Ok well first off don't listen to "Aj Dionne"... Ferrets are obligated carnivores they cannot process fruits and vegetables.
My ferrets used to turn their noses at raw meat. One trick with my oldest ferret was putting a little bit of ferretone and mixing the meat with it. He just licked it for awhile then took a bite and has loved it ever since.
My newest ferret hasn't had anything other than cat food from his previous owner so he seems pretty confused when I put meat in front of him.
I make a "soup" for him with boneless meats kibble ferretone and water. He loves it and I am slowly making the pieces of meat chunkier.
