Question: US Marine Corps diet tray?
I am joining in a couple weeks and will ship out by June of next year. I am a little overweight but not that bad and will start working to get in the best physical shape possible to prepare for training. I have heard that if you are overweight when entering bootcamp the drill instructor will order you to be put on a diet try. What does this consist of? Any other comments or opinions about the training and how to prepare will be greatly appreciated. thank you

This is another example as to why women shouldnt be in the military.
If you are too far overweight, they just won't ship you. You will be given a target weight you need to be under in order to ship.
If you make shipping weight, but are still over the official weight, then you are put on a diet at MCRD.
Things have changed over the past many years. You will not be starved. You get a half portion of the main entree but extra vegetables to fill you up. That's about it.
You have a year. Work with your recruiter and you'll be good to go next June. Good luck to you.
You need to "start" right away. As the other person has already mentioned there is the possibility that you wont be shipped. Or you will be shipped and then be sent towards the Pork Chop Platoon (and you dont want to be there). The platoon is meant to get the overweight and weak in shape for USMC boot camp. You can do this on your own or if you prefer some extra attention you can do this while in boot camp.
Talk to your recruiter and get the facts from him. If you are a "little overweight" then just make sure you fall within the limits and make sure that you can pass the Initial PFT...
