Question: Rebooted during formatting hard drive?

I'm wanting to install Windows XP Home Edition onto my home-built PC. The CD booted, everything was fine, then, halfway through formatting my second partition, I realised that I wanted the C drive to have most of the data, and the E drive to be the back up. Not the other way round, and so I stupidly Rebooted during the format....

Now, when it says "boot from CD _", I wait, and eventually this comes up: "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" and then I get a black screen. What should I do?

I have tried to see if there are any partitions by inserting my Windows 7 disk in and going through the setup to the partition section, but there's nothing there. It says I need to install the driver for the hard disk? I'm so confused, please help?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:

open up the computer and make sure everything it hook up good on the inside of your computer
and try it one more time.
if you have a cd or dvd for the hard disk put that cd in your computer.

Take the hard drive off the computer and connect it to a Windows machine thru a USB adapter, and format it thru disk management. There is a good chance that this won't work and your HDD is dead but it's worth a try.
