It depends on the mental nature and maturity of the child. If he is not phased by violence or crime and won't allow it to affect his behaviour then sure go for it. I started playing GTA 9 years ago when I was 12 and it hasn't adversely affected me.

Probably. I was 14 when I played GTA IV, 13 is fine I'd imagine.

I've been playing mature rated games since I was like 6 or 7 and I'm 19 years old now. In my opinion it don't matter what age as long as you can play a mature game and handle playing it, then you are fine. I hate people that say violent video games have a bad influence on the youth of society that's bullsh#t. If anything T.V has a more bad influence then video games.

I think that GTA is fine for a 13 year old, I'm 13 and I play saints row and GTA and when I started playing I already knew about all the things going on.
When I first started playing I got slightly addicted and played none stop for a while and after the weekend I was late to school and I was running then the idea that I stop a car and high-jack it came into my mind but I thought about it and realized I needed to slow down how much of it I played and it apart from that incident it hasn't affected my thoughts or actions at all

Technically no, since it's an M-rated game (17^). But i played GTA san andreas when i was like 10 and now im playing GTAIV at 17. Just dont grow up to be a coo-coo serial killer. There is a logical reason why they rate video games by E, E10, T, and M. As long as you dont have any psycological deficiencies, you'll be ok.

I really would say its too mature for a 13 year old, due to the sexual and violent content. Maybe get your son red dead redemption its simular to GTA and much more appropriate for a 13 year old, even though it is also rated MA 15+

Who cares if your son is dying for it he should learn life is tough. Games are given age ratings for a reason.
