Question: Did they discover anything yet with the Large Hadron Collider?
Did they discover anything yet?
Relation Questions:
Answer:
Apparently all they have discovered is that it works.
there was some technical problems so it got pushed back. who knows when it will actually be up and operating.
probably not this year
They learned that $5.8 billion US dollars just doesn't buy what it used to.
Nope
the experiment hs not been conducted yet due to some default in the system
ROFL the experiement experienced a failure to do with the superconducting magnets. It will take months for them to be cooled down again, and the projected collisions are now due around Srping 2009.
they have discovered just how gullible and silly ppl can be.
they have only been testing things. no real scince yet.
Hi. Only that the machine can make beams go clockwise and anticlockwise. One of the superconducting sections got too warm and must be replaced. (It takes a whole month for the unit to warm up enough to work on it.)
They haven't run any actual experiments yet, due to some start up issues.
However, even once they start running experiments, this level of high energy physics doesn't work as a 'eureka' moment. They take years to plan a test, then run it in a very short period, usually a large number of runs. Then it takes months or years of analyzing the data, and running it by numerous peer reviews, before a paper will come out hypothesizing a particular result. Even then it often takes more time before all the experts agree on the result (if they ever do).
Yes, a large Helium leak in the cooling system. But not the intended science yet. Because of the damage and the needed warm-up/cool-down for the repairs (the magnets are cooled to 2K, far too cold for the repairs), the first experiments got delayed to 2009.
No, It broke down.
No, and they won't be able to until after christmas, because the company doing it can't afford the electricity bills they would get attempting it over the winter. One of the magnets they are using had a default so it will be sometime next year when they actually do some experimenting
yes, they discovered that it leaks and then they discovered it wont be working till march next year....then i discovered what a massive waste of money it was.
Yep!
They found it to be broken for several months when a series of magnets raised 100K and in that type of environment burnt them up. So no news yet of any breakthroughs. When they do fire it back up I am sure they will find some exotic particles and as soon as it does so it will be blasted all over the news. So far they sent packets of protons around the 17 mile track in both directions till the magnets burnt up. Oh, and don't worry about black holes being created for they will be too small to suck up anything. Perhaps they can suck up the US economy so we can start over... :) .
Yes, a leak but nothing else until the leak is fixed and the damage it caused is repaired.
